Archbishop Chaput led a delegation to Rome this week in hopes that the Holy Father will decide to come to Philadelphia in September of 2015 for the World Council on Families. The event will take place just before Pope Francis convenes the second summit of the world's bishops to discuss family life later that fall. Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M.Cap., archbishop of Philadelphia is a member of the Province of St. Conrad. Archbishop Chaput has called the World Council on Families an opportunity to help families live their faith, but also to heal the church in Philadelphia. “The church in Philadelphia is also very much a community in need of renewal, in the wake of the sexual abuse crisis of this past decade. We have a duty to help abuse victims and their families to heal,” Archbishop Chaput said.
