Fr. David Songy in El Pueblo Católico
Mid-America's Fr. David Songy, a professor at St. John Vianney Seminary in Denver, CO and a clinical psychologist, was mentioned recently in El Pueblo Católico. The excerpt is as follows:

The Mission of the Catechist is Part of the Encounter with Christ for Catholic Hispanic Leaders in Denver

The Catechetical Congress was a moment for reflection, dialogue and discovery

by Lara Montoya

St. Joseph's Parish was the setting where more than 250 catechists from Colorado met on August 19 to reflect on their call and mission. The central theme of the Congress was "Who do you say that I am?" based on the passage of the bible from Mt. 16, 15.

The congress began with icebreakers to help the catechists enjoy a spirit of camaraderie. They then celebrated a liturgy which helped prepare their hearts for an encounter with the Lord Jesus and in this manner introduced them to the theme of the congress.

After the liturgy, the first keynote address of the Congress began: "Who do you say that I am?" According to Fr. David Songy, O.F.M.Cap., "The personal encounter with Christ is the origin of the catechist’s mission."
